Sharada Mandir School, Panaji was established in 1966 and this year we complete 50 glorious years of imparting education and shaping futures. As this is our Golden Jubilee Year, a lot of activities have been planned through the academic session. Graduation Day, held on the 10th of June 2016, was the first celebration of this academic year. As in the past, Sharada Mandir School, Miramar has achieved hundred percent results in both the ICSE Board exams, for Class 10 and ISC Board exams for Class 12. This achievement is due to the efforts of the Sharada Mandir School team, under the able guidance of the Administrator Mr. Oscar Gonsalves, the Principal of the school, Mrs. Sharmila Umesh and the dedicated staff. The school sent up 162 students for the Class 10 board exams. 138 students of Std.10 secured 75% and above. 75 from this number scored 90% and above. Miss Maia D'souza scored 97.8%. She is the recipient of the Sharada Mandir Trust Gold medal. The Silver medalist is Miss Sakshi Prabhu with 97.5%. The Bronze medalists with 96.8% are: Master Aumkar Shah, Miss Avantika Velho and Miss Shivani Mishal. Our rankers, whose names are mentioned above, are also the state rankers. In the ISC Exams, 16 students appeared and 9 students secured distinction. In Commerce, the Gold medalist is Master Mukund Bhanot with 81.8%. The Silver medalists with 81.6% are: Master Ujjwal Gupta and Miss Sara Kirlapalkar. The Bronze medalists with 78.2% are: Miss Divyali Mehrotra and Miss Harshda Gholve. In Humanities, the Gold medalist is Miss Ankita Nagaraj with 89.8%. The Silver medalist is Miss Ahalya Shetty with 84.6%. The Bronze medalist is Miss Whitney Wuzor with 81.2%. Mr. Piyush Pandey was the Chief Guest and presented certificates, plaques & awards to the graduating students. His address to the gathering was both, humorous and motivating. Mr. Pandey is an award-winning co-executive chairman and national creative director of Ogilvy & Mather India and vice-chairman of O&M Asia-Pacific. The Government of India awarded him the civilian honour of the Padma Shri in 2016. Most recently, he worked on a campaign that brought Mr. Narendra Modi to power as the new Prime Minister of India. In 2015 he launched his first book on advertising - Pandeymonium. He is also the co-writer of Bhopal Express, the much-acclaimed film on the Bhopal Gas tragedy. The Chairman, Mr. Dattaraj Salgaocar presided over the function while Vice-Chairperson, Mrs. Dipti Salgaocar, presented a memento to the Chief Guest on behalf of the school and Management. The welcome address was given by the Principal of the school, Mrs. Sharmila Umesh, while, Mrs. Michelle Gomes listed the achievements of the meritorious students. The vote of thanks was given by the Administrator, Mr. Oscar Gonsalves. |
